Kelly Sherman
To Move (Ours. Mine.) is a new print project by 2006 ICA Foster Prize winner Kelly Sherman. Comprised of a pair of photoetchings, the piece was printed from a copper plate that bears a list of belongings brought jointly into a relationship. The original list is altered to remove some of the entries, describing the ultimate failure of the relationship. The video here walks you through the actual development and printing of the copper plates. Please visit the HotPress section of the website to read more about the project. Call Director James Stroud for price information and a pre-publication offer.
James Ovid Mustin III
0³
Fresh out of art school, master printer James Stroud invited this young graffiti artist into the studio to create a new tag for a fine art print. The result is O3, a 3 x 4 foot copper plate drypoint drawn with an electric engraving tool. Each sheet of paper is first painted with color ‘fills’ using Montana spray paints. The copper plate containing the outline is then printed in black over the color to complete each image. This is an open edition print yielding a series of unique versions of the tag. The first twelve will be available January 2007.

Center Street Studio Archives
Natural Selection l Landscape Print Portfolio
In March 2008 The Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art at the University of Richmond will acquire the entire Center Street Studio Archives for the Harnett Print Study Center. The Museum and the Studio are producing a benefit portfolio of ten landscape prints by ten artists to raise funds for the acquisition. Proceeds will enable the Harnett Print Study Center to acquire the Archives as part of the museum’s permanent collection. Documenting the remarkable collaboration between master printer and artists has been the hallmark of Center Street since its beginnings in 1984 and providing a broad spectrum of contemporary printmaking, the prints and related materials in the Archives will be utilized as primary sources for research and exhibition at the University of Richmond.
Artists represented in the portfolio are: Nell Blaine, Bernard Chaet, Anne Harris, Carolyn Harris, Charles Ritchie, Tonia Softic’, James Stroud, Bill Thompson, John Walker and George Whitman.

Carrie Moyer
Rush and Roll l Double Shots
New York painter Carrie Moyer was invited to produce a series of monotypes at Center Street late summer 2006. Two series of images emerged using a combination of monotype, graphite drawing and woodcut. Those who know Moyer’s work will notice a migration toward straight up abstraction in these works on paper, a deliberate move away from the recognizable ‘pictures’ and landscape references of her earlier painting. A total of sixteen unique prints are available.
